Summary

The purpose of Amendment 22 is to update essential fish habitat (EFH) provisions for stocks managed under the Coastal Pelagic Species (CPS) Fishery Management Plan (FMP) based on a recent review of available information.

This amendment is intended to promote the goals and objectives of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (MSA) which requires periodic review and revision of EFH components of FMPs as warranted based on available information. This amendment does not change how the U.S. fisheries off the West Coast are managed; it updates the EFH descriptions in the CPS FMP.
