REASON FOR CLOSURE: Based on the best available landings information, the
Harpoon category adjusted quota has been reached and exceeded.

PERMITS AFFECTED: Atlantic Tunas Harpoon category

The Harpoon category will reopen on June 1, 2027. Using inseason flexibilities NOAA Fisheries is managing the 2026 bluefin tuna fishery to ensure all fishermen across our various gear types and geographic areas have access to fish consistent with the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) overall increased quota for the United States and our domestic regulatory requirements.
