Summary

This Atlantic Salmon Recovery Plan, released by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and NOAA Fisheries, is the primary tool for guiding the process for species recovery.

Recovering threatened and endangered species is an important part of our mission that supports resilient coastal communities and benefits our nation’s economy.

Atlantic salmon are an iconic New England species. In addition to the ecosystem role these fish play, they have been an important indicator of economic health in our region.

Atlantic salmon are endangered and one of the eight highly at-risk species in the nation that we have identified as needing special attention through NOAA’s Species in the Spotlight initiative.
