North Pacific Observer Program Training Schedule

Observer Training to become a certified North Pacific observer consists of a comprehensive three-week program held in Seattle. The curriculum includes safety while at sea, sampling methodologies, species identification, and data documentation requirements. Please see below for dates, training type, and location information.

Notes

1This three week training class starts on Wednesday 2/5 and spans an observed federal holiday (2/17) and class will not be held on that day.

1-day briefings will be offered weekly in Seattle. Seattle is the standard location for these briefings as 1-day briefings in Anchorage will be on an as needed request. Please submit requests no later than 5 business days before the start date of the desired 1-day.

2-day tutorial briefings may be added to a scheduled 1-day on a case-by-case as needed basis. Please submit requests no later than 5 business days before the start date of the associated 1-day.

The date and locations of fixed gear LL2 classes will be determined once you have determined your training needs. Please provide input on your needs at least 2 weeks in advance of a preferred class start date.
