Black Sea Bass Pot Experimental Retrieval Project - Exempted Fishing Permit Application - Revision
The National Marine Fisheries Service received an application for a revision to an EFP: Expansion Project to Modernize Pot Fishing for the Southeast Commercial Black Sea Bass Pot Portion of the Snapper-Grouper Fishery Using Subsea Buoy Retrieval Systems
Sustainable Seas Technology
The project involves the testing of Subsea Buoy Retrieval Systems in the black sea bass pot fishery in federal waters of the South Atlantic. If granted, the EFP would allow the deployment of modified black sea bass pots in the federal waters of the South Atlantic. The project seeks to build upon previous research and continue to examine the potential usefulness of the modified pot gear in minimizing impacts to protected species.
The EFP would be valid through April 30, 2025, commencing on the date the EFP is issued.
