IB 12-67: NMFS Reallocates Pacific Cod from Catcher Vessels Using Trawl Gear to Vessels Using Jig Gear in the Western Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is reallocating the projected unused amount (150 metric tons) of Pacific cod from catcher vessels using trawl gear to vessels using jig gear in the Western Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska management area according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to allow the 2012 total allowable catch of Pacific cod to be harvested and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(a)(12)(ii)(B). This action does not imply any change in the status of the fisheries.
