IB 13-78: NMFS Reallocates Halibut and Crab Prohibited Species Catch Allowances from the BSAI Trawl Limited Access Sector to the Amendment 80 Cooperative in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is reallocating the projected unused amount of the 2013 halibut and crab prohibited species catch (PSC) allowances from the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI) trawl limited access sector to the Amendment 80 cooperatives in the BSAI management area, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

The following table summarizes the reallocation for halibut in metric tons and crab in numbers of animals:

This action is necessary to allow the Amendment 80 cooperatives to fully harvest their 2013 groundfish allocations and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.91(f). This action does not imply any change in the status of the fisheries. This information bulletin only provides notice of a fishery management action. For the purposes of complying with any requirements of this action, you are advised to see the actual text of the action in the Federal Register.
