NOAA Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement (OLE), Alaska Division, has noticed an upward trend in the number of allegations of potential record keeping and reporting (R&R) violations. Since 2013, reports concerning R&R have nearly tripled, with 61 allegations during January through June 2013, and 181 during the same period in 2015. The significant rise may be due to decreased compliance and/or to an increase in coverage and industry reporting requirements.
The goal of this notice is to improve compliance through education and voluntary compliance to mitigate OLE's need to conduct targeted enforcement efforts. For more information, contact NOAA Fisheries OLE.
