IB 16-39: NMFS Opens Directed Fishing for Pacific Cod by Catcher Vessels using Trawl Gear in the Bering Sea Subarea of the BSAI

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is reopening directed fishing for Pacific cod by catcher vessels using trawl gear in the Bering Sea subarea of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI) at 12 noon, Alaska local time, April 11, 2016, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully use the B season apportionment of the 2016 total allowable catch of Pacific cod allocated to trawl catcher vessels in the BSAI and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.25(a)(1)(i), (a)(2)(i)(C), and (a)(2)(iii)(D).
