NOAA Fisheries is prohibiting directed fishing for northern rockfish in the Western Regulatory Area (Statistical Area 610, between 159 degrees and 170 degrees W. longitude) of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA), effective 12 noon, Alaska local time, September 16, 2020, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, NOAA Fisheries Alaska Region.
This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 2020 total allowable catch of northern rockfish in the Western Regulatory Area of the GOA and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(d)(1)(iii).
While this closure is in effect the maximum retainable amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.
