NMFS Closes Directing Fishing for Groundfish with Non Pelagic Trawl Gear in the Red King Crab Savings Subarea of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is closing directed fishing for groundfish with non-pelagic trawl gear in the red king crab savings subarea of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI) effective 12 noon, Alaska local time, April 5, 2006, according to Robert D. Mecum, Acting Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 2006 red king crab prohibited species catch limit that is specified for the red king crab savings subarea of the BSAI and is pursuant to 50 CFR 679.21(e)(7)(ii)(B).
