NMFS Opens the Directed Fishery for Pacific Cod by Catcher Vessels Using Pot Gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is reopening directed fishing for Pacific cod by catcher vessels using pot gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI) at 12 noon, Alaska local time, October 2, 2007, according to Robert D. Mecum, Acting Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully use the 2007 total allowable catch of Pacific cod specified for catcher vessels using pot gear in the BSAI to resume and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.25(a)(1)(i), (a)(2)(i)(C) and (a)(2)(iii)(D).
