NMFS Opens Directed Fishing for Deep-water Species by Vessels Using Trawl Gear in the Gulf of Alaska

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for species comprising the deep-water species category by vessels using trawl gear in the Gulf of Alaska (GOA), effective 1200 hours, Alaska local time (A.l.t.), May 15, 2018, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully use the 2018 groundfish total allowable catch specified for the species comprising the deep-water species category in the GOA. Other closures remain in full force and effect.
