NMFS Opens Directed Fishing for Pacific Cod by Catcher/Processors Using Pot Gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is reopening directed fishing for Pacific cod by catcher/processors using pot gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI) at 12 noon, Alaska local time, November 15, 2016, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully use the 2016 total allowable catch of Pacific cod specified for catcher/processors using pot gear in the BSAI and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.25(a)(1)(i), (a)(2)(i)(C), and (a)(2)(iii)(D).
