NMFS Opens Directed Fishing for Pacific Cod by Catcher Vessels Using Trawl Gear in the Western Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for Pacific cod by catcher vessels using trawl gear in the Western Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) for 48 hours, effective 1200 hours, Alaska local time (A.l.t.), March 1, 2013, through 1200 hours, A.l.t., March 3, 2013, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully use the A season allowance of the 2013 total allowable catch of Pacific cod specified for catcher vessels using trawl gear in the Western Regulatory Area of the GOA. Other closures remain in full force and effect.
