NMFS Opens Directed Fishing for Pacific Cod by Trawl Catcher Vessels in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for Pacific cod by catcher vessels using trawl gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI), effective 1200 hrs, Alaska local time (A.l.t.), March 29, 2012, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully use the A season apportionment of the 2012 Pacific cod total allowable catch allocated to trawl catcher vessels in the BSAI. Other closures remain in full force and effect.
