The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is prohibiting directed fishing for yellowfin sole in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI) by vessels participating in the BSAI trawl limited access fishery, effective 12 noon, Alaska local time, September 7, 2018, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.                     

This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 2018 allocation of yellowfin sole total allowable catch for vessels participating in the BSAI trawl limited access fishery in the BSAI and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(d)(1)(iii).

While this closure remains in effect, the maximum retainable amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.
