NMFS Prohibits Directed Fishing for Yellowfin Sole in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands by Vessels Participating in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Trawl Limited Access Sector Fishery

Notice of a fishery management action.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is prohibiting directed fishing for yellowfin sole in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI) by vessels participating in the BSAI trawl limited access sector fishery, effective 1200 hours, Alaska local time, May 29, 2019, according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 2019 Pacific halibut prohibited species catch allowance specified for the vessels participating in the BSAI trawl limited access sector yellowfin sole fishery.


While this closure is effective, the maximum retainable amounts at 50 CFR 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip.
