NMFS Reallocates Pacific Cod in the Central Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is reallocating the projected unused amount of Pacific cod from catcher vessels using trawl to vessels using pot gear in the Central Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska management area according to James W. Balsiger, Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS. 

The following table summarizes the reallocation in metric tons: 

Catcher Vessels Using Trawl Gear 18,9333 -2,000 16,933
Vessels Using Pot Gear 12,660 +2,000 14,660

This action is necessary to allow the 2015 total allowable catch of Pacific cod to be harvested and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.20(a)(12)(ii)(B). This action does not imply any change in the status of the fisheries.
