NOAA Fisheries Announces Commercial Blueline Tilefish Fishery Closure

November 07, 2025

NOAA Fisheries is closing the commercial blueline tilefish fishery as of November 10, 2025, through the end of the fishing year, December 31, 2025.

When 100 percent of the commercial blueline tilefish TAL has been projected to have been harvested, the regulations at 50 CFR 648.295(b)(2)(ii) require that we close the commercial blueline tilefish fishery for the remainder of the year. Based on weekly landings from dealer reports and other information, we project that 100 percent of the TAL has been caught.

Effective 0001 hours, November 10, 2025, no vessel may retain or land blueline tilefish in or from the Tilefish Management Unit (Figure 1) through December 31, 2025.
