NOAA Fisheries Announces the Scup Winter II Period Quota and Possession Limit Increase

September 11, 2020

Effective Date: October 1, 2020

The commercial scup quota and the possession limit per trip for the 2020 Winter II Period (October 1-December 31) have been increased due to the rollover of unused quota from the Winter I period.

When the state and Federal possession limits are different, the most restrictive requirement applies for fishery participants that have both state and Federal permits.

In May 2018, we implemented a final rule that moved the month of October from the Summer period to the Winter II period.  The 2020 Winter II period with the revised quota and possession limit shown above begins October 1, not November 1 as in previous years.
