Anoushka Concepcion
Anoushka Concepcion recently joined NOAA Fisheries Greater Atlantic Region Fisheries Office as a Regional Aquaculture Coordinator. Before joining GARFO, Anoushka served 14 years as an Extension Educator in marine aquaculture with the Connecticut Sea Grant Program and the University of Connecticut’s Department of Extension conducting applied research and supporting the shellfish and seaweed aquaculture sectors through collaborations with industry, regulators, and others, to address emerging challenges including direct marketing of shellfish and seaweed production, processing, food safety, market development and permitting. Her expertise includes stakeholder engagement and facilitation, project development and implementation, conference and workshop organization, and media relations. Anoushka earned her B.S. in Marine Biology from UNC Wilmington and M.S. in Fisheries, Animal and Veterinary Sciences from the University of Rhode Island. Her 26+ years of experience in marine aquaculture includes ornamental, microalgal, shrimp and finfish cultivation. Anoushka is passionate about providing the world’s population with responsibly produced food through aquaculture.
