Cassidy Peterson, Ph.D.

Management Strategy Evaluation Specialist

Cassidy Peterson is a Research Mathematical Statistician serving as the Management Strategy Evaluation Specialist for the Southeast Fisheries Science Center. She began her work at the center in 2019 and is based at Beaufort, North Carolina. Cassidy earned her Master's of Science and Doctorate in marine science at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, College of William & Mary in 2016 and 2021. She earned her Bachelor's of Science degrees in marine science and mathematics from the University of New England in 2013. Her research interests center around the use of management strategy evaluation, which describes a framework in which alternate fisheries management procedures are tested across a wide range of uncertainties using closed-loop simulation. Accordingly, Cassidy is interested in working with diverse stakeholders and managers to identify stock-specific management objectives and to develop implementable management approaches that meet those objectives.
