Veterinary Medical Officer; Marine Mammal Unusual Mortality Events Program Coordinator

Deborah Fauquier is the Veterinary Medical Officer and the Marine Mammal Unusual Mortality Events Program Coordinator for NOAA Fisheries’ Marine Mammal Health and Stranding Response Program (MMHSRP). She previously worked as an Associate Veterinarian at The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, California, and an Adjunct Scientist at Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, Florida. She has over 20 years’ experience working with free-ranging and stranded marine animals. She received her Veterinary and Master’s degrees from the University of California-Davis and her Ph.D. degree in Biological Oceanography from the University of California-Santa Cruz. Her research interests include investigating the impacts of disease and environmental changes on marine organisms.
