Debra Abercrombie

Debra Abercrombie is a NOAA Affiliate with the Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC) through the Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) located at the University of Miami. She has over 15 years of experience working on a range of relevant research topics promoting improved ecosystem-based management and conservation of marine resources. During her career, Debra has worked as a Fishery Biologist for NOAA Fisheries Service, served as Ocean Coordinator for the state of New York, has held Senior Research Associate positions in academia, and has even worked as an independent research consultant promoting international management strategies and conservation policies for sharks and rays. She started working with the SEFSC Protected Resources and Biodiversity Division’s Marine Mammal Program in September, 2018.
