Emily Ryznar
Emily’s scientific goal—to conduct research that informs species management and conservation - has taken her all over the globe, including to South America, the South Pacific, and now Alaska. Currently, she is using dynamic models to understand the distribution of commercially important crab stocks in the Bering Sea and is investigating oceanographic drivers of north Pacific fisheries. Emily is an active NOAA-certified scientific diver with the Shellfish Assessment Program and is passionate about outreach and education. Emily earned her B.S. from UC Santa Cruz, Ph.D. from UC Los Angeles, and joined Alaska Fisheries Science Center in 2022 after completing a science policy postdoctoral fellowship with California Sea Grant.
