Janne Haugen, PhD
Janne is a fisheries ecologist from Norway with a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of South-Eastern Norway (2013), an MSc in Applied Fisheries and Marine Ecology from University of Aberdeen, Scotland (2015), and a PhD in Marine Science and Technology from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (2020). Throughout her career, Janne has gained experience working with quantitative analyses of data-limited species, shark-bycatch and discard estimations, stock assessment, fisheries management, and ecosystem-based management. She is passionate about applied and collaborative science and is a member of multiple international expert working groups through the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea. At the Cooperative Research Branch, Janne is using fine-scale fishery dependent data to evaluate potential impacts to fishery operations due to offshore wind energy development. Janne is also a yoga teacher and during her free time she enjoys practicing yoga and any outdoor activity, regardless of weather.
