Research Associate II (Affiliate)

Lia Caldwell joined the Marine Mammal Branch as an intern in 2025 and became a Research Associate in 2026. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Spanish from Brigham Young University in 2023, followed by a Master of Professional Science in Marine Mammal Science from the University of Miami in 2025. She currently works with the Passive Acoustic Ecology Program, where she analyzes passive acoustic data from the Gulf of America and supports the detection and classification of Rice’s whale calls.
