Meghana is a veterinarian whose clinical education focused on production animal health including aquatic species. Following her veterinary training, she pursued a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology at Vanderbilt University. In conjunction with the Tennessee Department of Health, she completed her graduate thesis, focused on evaluating the temporal and genotypic associations between sporadic cases and outbreaks of norovirus among people in middle Tennessee. As an epidemiologist at the Tennessee Department of Health, Meghana used surveillance data of healthcare-associated infections to analyze trends and identify opportunities to improve patient safety in facilities across the state.
At the Milford Lab, Meghana is using her veterinary and epidemiology background to conduct animal health and disease research in response to the evolving challenges and conditions of shellfish production
