The NOAA Fisheries Alaska Regional Office invites you to attend the Alaska Aquaculture Opportunity Atlas Rollout and Webtool Planning Workshop! The workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to learn more about the Aquaculture Opportunity Area process, review and ask questions about the recently published National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) Gulf of Alaska Aquaculture Opportunity Atlas, and offer input on developing an Alaska aquaculture mapping and permitting tool.
Purpose of the Workshop: NCCOS will introduce participants to the methods, data layers, and results of the atlas, and demonstrate how to navigate the atlas to support project planning. In addition, participants will be asked to provide feedback and ideas to support the development of a companion online tool. Participants will hear from atlas authors and webtool developers and then work collaboratively to:
- Identify the ideal webtool functions that will best support aquaculture planning and permitting in Alaska
- Identify additional or updated datasets for inclusion in the online web tool
- Identify strategic partners to support maintaining the most up-to-date data layers
In addition to the workshop in Anchorage, two identical workshops will be offered in Juneau and Kodiak. Please register here for the location you will attend.
