Ecosystem and Socioeconomic Profile (ESP) Advice Workshop

The Ecosystem and Socioeconomic Profile or ESP is a standardized framework that facilitates the integration of stock-specific ecosystem indicators and socioeconomic factors into the stock assessment and management process.

This is the third of three planned workshops to develop and implement the ESP process at the Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC). The primary goals of this workshop are to 1) review ESP Advice workshop, participants survey, update on current and new priority ESPs, data accessibility for ESPs, and Council recommendations regarding improving ESPs, 2) discuss and generate guidelines for entering ESP gates with Gate 1 being preparation to get into an ESP and Gate 2, once in an ESP, preparation to get into a stock assessment model, 3) discuss avenues for using the ESP elements in fisheries management advice, and 4) foster communication and collaboration between programs and discuss the process for ESP contributions, coordination, and avenues for improvement.
