About
Climate change is one of the most important environmental issues of our time, with overwhelming trends illustrating this change and wide-ranging impacts on society and the environment. Communities across the United States are already facing the effects of a changing climate, and Virginia is no exception.
Nonformal and informal educators, as trusted messengers, play a critical role in supporting students’, teachers’, and the public's understanding of how climate change is influencing the human and natural systems around us—an understanding that can inform decision making as well as how we respond to the changing climate.
Join us for a one-day workshop to explore climate science, policy, and approaches to communicating about and incorporating climate topics in your education programming. This workshop is for nonformal educators and will address:
- Key aspects of locally relevant climate science
- Access to resources for teaching about climate change
- Educational approaches for exploring issues and stewardship actions related to a changing climate
- Skill-building in climate communication
