External Review of Information for Fisheries Stock Assessments in the Pacific Islands

In 2013, a panel of independent experts reviewed the Science Center's information for fisheries stock assessments.

About

NOAA Fisheries began a systematic peer review process in 2013 at all six regional science centers. During the first national review, a panel of independent experts reviewed data used in assessments of fish stocks under the remit of the Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center, including those for highly migratory species and insular species such as bottomfish and coral reef fishes. This was a welcome opportunity to showcase the strides we have made in our fisheries data management and receive guidance to help us continue to improve our systems to offer the greatest utility and transparency possible.
