NOAA Fisheries will hold a virtual meeting on May 21, 2026, regarding the harvest of North Pacific albacore.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide updates from the February webinar, gather stakeholder input, and prepare for potential discussions at the 2026 annual meetings of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission and Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) Northern Committee.
Discussion topics will include:
- Executive summary of the 2026 North Pacific albacore stock assessment
- Updated estimates of the historical impact of fleet groups
- Translation of fishing intensity into catch and/or effort limits
- Potential modifications to the harvest strategy
- Timeline of important events leading up to the 2026 meeting of the WCPFC Northern Committee

This meeting is open to the public and will be conducted via webinar.
Complete the meeting interest form by May 14, 2026, if you would like to attend the meeting and/or receive meeting materials. Requests for sign language interpretation or other auxiliary aids should be indicated when registering for the meeting. Meeting documents will be emailed to participants in advance of the webinar.
