About
NOAA Fisheries Pacific Islands region and the Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research are hosting a collaborative one-day learning opportunity for middle school science teachers to explore the management and science of fisheries.
NOAA Fisheries is pleased to host the second annual middle school science teacher workshop on Ford Island (Moku‘ume‘ume). This all-day workshop, which falls on Prince Kūhiō Day (a State holiday), will feature a variety of interactive educational modules aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The activities will help teachers connect students to the latest science and management involved in caring for ocean resources and their habitat. Focus areas for the workshop will include protected species conservation, science and management of Marine National Monuments, and technology in marine science.
Each participant will receive a Marianas Trench Marine National Monument poster, a reusable tote bag, and a dial caliper, along with all of the lesson plans and materials covered during the workshop.
