Webinar: NOAA Fisheries and Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Federal Survey Mitigation Implementation Strategy
Webinars for the public about the joint NOAA Fisheries and BOEM draft implementation strategy for mitigating the impacts of offshore wind energy development on NOAA Fisheries’ surveys.
About
In support of the Biden-Harris Administration’s goals of advancing offshore wind energy production responsibly while protecting biodiversity and promoting cooperative ocean use, NOAA Fisheries and BOEM jointly developed a Draft Federal Survey Mitigation Implementation Strategy. It addresses anticipated impacts of offshore wind energy development on NOAA Fisheries’ scientific surveys in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. This strategy represents a major step in accomplishing BOEM and NOAA Fisheries’ Federal Survey Mitigation effort, which was launched in 2021.
The implementation strategy identifies the essential components of survey mitigation, as well as objectives and actions to accomplish the goals of survey mitigation.
Formal comments on the strategy must be submitted by May 6, 2022 on regulations.gov (search for docket BOEM-2022-0012).
