Celebrating National Fishing and Boating Week 2025

Creating memories and protecting our fishing resources together.

Each year, National Fishing and Boating Week reminds us of the powerful bond between people and the water—at NOAA, we’re inspired to celebrate that connection in 2025. From June 1 to June 8, communities across the country will gather along our coasts to cast lines, launch boats, and share stories that span generations.

At NOAA, our mission is to ensure that our nation's marine resources are sustainable, resilient, and accessible. Recreational fishing and boating are not only cherished pastimes—they are vital parts of coastal economies and a gateway to conservation. Each cast is a chance to appreciate the complex, interconnected ecosystems we work to understand and protect in partnership with recreational fishermen.

This year, we celebrate the milestones achieved with our partners and the fishing public. In collaboration with recreational fishermen, state agencies, fishery management councils, and the interstate marine fisheries commissions, we have advanced habitat restoration, improved stock assessments, and strengthened our data collection programs. These efforts help sustain fish populations and ensure enjoyable experiences for current and future generations.

Whether you’re an experienced angler or a first-time paddler, this week is for you.

So grab a rod, hop in a boat, or join a shoreline cleanup. National Fishing and Boating Week is a time to celebrate not just the fun of being on the water, but the shared responsibility of caring for it. Together, we can ensure opportunities for additional treasured experiences and protect the resources that make them possible.

Thank you for being part of this community. From everyone at NOAA, happy National Fishing and Boating Week 2025!
