February 22, 2021

Agency will host three virtual meetings to gather input.

NOAA Fisheries announced our intent to develop a Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement for projects funded by NOAA’s Saltonstall-Kennedy Research and Development Program. The program funds approximately $10 million in fishing industry projects annually. All financial assistance awards are considered "major federal actions'' under the National Environmental Policy Act. The PEIS is being developed to consolidate the NEPA process, resulting in a more efficient review process and a more robust analysis of the program.

To inform the process, NOAA Fisheries will hold three virtual public scoping meetings to solicit comments from a range of stakeholders. To ensure all of our stakeholders have an opportunity to provide comments, the agency will hold three separate virtual meetings—one to include the Eastern and Central United States., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico; one for the West Coast and Alaska; and one for the Western Pacific.
