NOAA internships are a great way for college students to explore careers in marine-, environmental-, and climate-related fields. The NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office is teaming up with the Chesapeake Research Consortium to offer five Chesapeake-focused internships in several different career areas in summer 2022. Applications for all five internships are due by February 20, 2022.

These paid internships will run from mid-May through mid-August. Due to health and safety concerns, we do not know yet whether these internships will be offered virtually or in person. Internships were held virtually in 2020 and 2021. Either way, internships are great opportunities for students to gain knowledge and experience in a potential career area by working closely with professionals on a topic.

We run two summer internship programs at the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office, in partnership with the Chesapeake Research Consortium.

Chesapeake-Student Recruitment, Early Advisement, and Mentoring Program

The Chesapeake-Student Recruitment, Early Advisement, and Mentoring (C-StREAM) program is for students who identify as people of color and/or who are first-generation college students. These internships are for undergraduate students who will enter their sophomore, junior, or senior year of college this fall, or for recent college graduates (including graduate students). Visit the C-StREAM website for details on the 2022 positions listed below and how to apply.

NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office Summer Internship Program

The NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office Summer Internship Program engages college students in working and learning about science, policy, and education. These internships are for students who will enter their sophomore, junior, or senior year of college this fall. If in person, these internships will be based in Annapolis, Maryland. Visit each internship's description for details and how to apply.
