<supplemental-information>All of these data are collected cooperatively from private commercial fishing interests and are protected from general release by confidentiality statutes. This protects the private business interests of industry while still providing NOAA Fisheries with the detailed information necessary to effectively manage the ecosystem. The staff authorized to use these data include NOAA Fisheries' scientists and managers participating in a broad range of activities including:

stock assessments,
marine mammal interactions,
food habits,
fish age analyses,
economic analyses,
fishery management plan development,
in-season fishery management.
The data are also shared with other authorized users in the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) and North Pacific Fishery Management Council staff with similar responsibilities.

Aggregations of observer data which protect confidentiality are periodically developed and released to the public. Observer data serve as essential building blocks for numerous public analyses, reports, and scientific documents.

This table contains species composition data that bridges the gap between the domestic data (pre 2008) and current data collection protocols (post 2008). The old system did not provide for discrete and repteated sampling of an observer haul. To provide this longitudinal view that newer feature has been flattened and the presentation mirrors the domestic model.

snapshot table for snapshot OBSINT.DEBRIEFED_AGE_SQUASH_CONCAT

Debriefed_age_squash_concat is a materialized view created from the data in the debriefed_age table in a summary format presenting all specimen_types sampled for a single distinct individual animal are concatenated into one column. Also there is another column for all the corresponding concatenated specimen_type_descriptions. The debriefed_age table is a bridge object between the Domestic data (pre 2008) and the ATL data (2008 onwards) As such, refinements to the structure and statistical reliability realized in the redevelopment of Norpac are lost. The use of this table is primarily for status of stocks authors who require a longitudinal view of observer data.

snapshot table for snapshot OBSINT.DEBRIEFED_AGE_SQUASH_SP_TYPE

Debriefed_age_sp_type is a materialized view created from the data in the debriefed_age table in a summary format presenting all specimen_types and specimen_type_descriptions in their own columns, with each row representing a distinct individual animal. Each specimen_type taken is denoted by a "Y" in its own column. The column is null for all specimen types not taken.
