Data collected on this cruise included the following: We conducted a juvenile fish and benthic fish prey survery in the eastern Bering Sea (61 3-meter beam trawls, 64 modified tucker epibenthic plankton sled tows, 54 van veen benthic grab collections).
The purpose was to conduct an ichthyoplankton and juvenile fish survey in the Eastern Bering Sea. This work was needed to describe larval fish and zooplankton assemblages in the Bering Sea in Autumn. In particular, this area is a known nursery area for northern rock sole, yellowfin sole, walleye pollock, and Pacific cod, and abundances of larvae and juveniles at this time of year area high. Beam trawling was conducted to study settlement and nursery areas for age-0 flatfishes. Benthic sampling was conducted to determine settlement substratum and prey resources for age-0 flatfishes.

Eastern Bering Sea
The operating area was within and transiting to and from the Eastern Bering Sea from Dutch Harbor. Two general areas were sampled. The first area began North of Unimak Island and extended East along the North side of the Alaksa Peninsula to about Cape Lieskof. The second area was off shore of mainland Alaska between Cape Newenham and Nunivak Island between depths of about 20 and 55 meters.
