The purpose of the research was to provide decision-makers and others with information about socio-cultural aspects of longline fishing and longline fishermen, for use in designing and assessing the effects of regulatory actions. However, this effort is merely descriptive and is not intended to be generalized to the population. After the data were recorded through primary in-person data collection methods (paper), themes were identified and efforts were made to verify themes with fishery stakeholders.
