Stock assessment authors for sablefish (and potentially for P.cod) use catch-per-unit-effort information in their models. A key component of this is the spacing of the hooks on the gear. Every year, we issue a special project where the observers measure the spacing of the hooks on a few segments of gear. That special project has been absorbed into the standard data set for 2010. This entity represent the hook count and hook spacing measurements for a segment of gear.
