Abstract

Shoreside production reports are mandatory reports submitted by shoreside and stationary floating processors that receive groundfish from federally permitted catcher vessels. These reports document groundfish production in post-processed product weight by species, product type, and FMP region (i.e., GOA or BSAI). The weight of each species of fish is reported by product code (e.g., fillets, minced fish, surimi, etc.). The product weights can be converted to a pre-processed (round) weight of fish by expanding the product weight using product recovery rates (PRR). Standardized PRRs are published in Federal regulations for product types and species combinations (50 CFR 679 Table 3).

Distribution Information

Access Constraints:

Shoreside production reports are sensitive under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Reauthorization Act (2007) and can only be shared with authorized persons or in summary format for public dissemination.

Shoreside and stationary floating processors began submitted production reports using eLandings.

Time Frame 2
1992 - 2008

Shoreside processors and stationary floating processors submitted weekly production reports.

Time Frame 3
2009 - Present

Shoreside processors and stationary floating processors began submitting daily production reports rather than weekly production reports.

Time Frame 4
1990 - 1999

Shoreside processors and stationary floating processors submitted paper production reports.

Time Frame 5
2000 - 2006

Shoreside processors and stationary floating processors were able to submit production reports via an application called Shorelog. Shorelog was developed by NMFS Alaska Region for electronic reporting by shoreside processors. Shorelog allowed processors to submit WPRs through files attached to an email that could be uploaded into the database versus faxing the production report and key punching the data into the database.
