Question:

Is there a species code for escolar?

Answer:

No. Both oilfish and escolar are grouped together as species group "OLF."

Question:

What is included in the weight type "chunk"?

Answer:

"Chunk" weight type can refer to fish that are display (gutted, head and tail attached) or fish that are missing portions of the body. Additional uses for the "chunk" weight type include instances where only iced weights are available, or when the weight is an estimate.

"Chunk" weights are coded separately from dressed weight types so that they can be easily excluded from analyses.

FAQ 4

CC ID: 197756

Author: Allison Shideler
Question:

How are aggregate weights handled?

Answer:

Weights are required to be reported for individual fishes for all swordfish and tunas. Prior to August 2009, aggregate weights of dolphin, wahoo, and oilfish that were reported as aggregates were broken into estimates of individual fish based on the number of each species reported kept on set forms. After August 2009, an aggregate code was created for these 3 species groups.
