This data set is a Microsoft Access database containing detailed station data (station name number, date, location, depth, time, and bottom temperature) as well as species, fish counts and measurements, and habitat data derived from the raw video and still images and from chevron fish traps.
These are the data derived from the raw video and still images and from chevron fish trap catches collected as part of NOAA Fisheries SEFSC Panama City laboratorys fishery-independent survey of natural reefs on the northern half of the West Florida Shelf in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. They are used primarily to generate annual indices of relative abundance of federally-managed reef fishes for stock assessments and to inform fishery managers. Target species include snappers (red, vermilion, gray, and lane), groupers (gag, red, scamp), gray triggerfish, red porgy, white grunt, black seabass, hogfish, and amberjacks. These data also provide information on the fish community structure patterns and trends in annual recruitment, distribution, and age and size composition of many reef fish species habitat associations, structure, and distribution and station name and number, collection date, location, depth, and bottom temperature.
