25872 Project Published / External 25869 Marine Mammals Miami Project Completed These data have been used to determine the habitat use and occurrence of sperm whales in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico. To evaluate the occurrence and habitat of sperm whales in the Southeastern Gulf of Mexico. Research cruises were conducted in the summer of 2012 (GU-12-02) and 2014 (GU-14-04) to examine the distribution, abundance, and habitats of sperm whales in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico. Data include visual survey, passive and active acoustics, sample collection, physical oceanographic data, and data on sperm whale movements derived from tag-telemtry data.
