These data have been used to delinate different stocks of bottlenose dolphins in estuaries of the Gulf of Mexico to support the injury assessment related to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
To use biopsy tissue samples to examine genetic relationships between populations of bottlenose dolphins.
Small boat based surveys for biopsy sample collection. Including focussed studies in estuaries along the Lousiana coast and Mississippi sound. Data include survey effort, sample collection efforts, and subsampling of collected samples. Photoidentification databases of sampled individuals are maintained in customized Access database software (FINBASE). These data are incorporated into the NRDA assessment and therefore may have restrictions on their public distribution.
