These data have been used to study the long term residency of bottlenose dolphins in Mississippi Sound.
To examine residency patterns of bottlenose dolphins in Mississippi Sound.
Small boat based photo-identifcation studies of bottlenose dolphins in various estuaries of the Northern Gulf of Mexico, with a focus on Mississippi Sound. Some of these data are incorporated into the Natural Resources Damage Assessment associated with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and therefore may have restrictions on their public distribution. Data include information on the location and group size of animals, survey effort, and identification photographs with associated documentation on matching of images of individual animals. These photos and associated data are incorporated into a custom database system based upon an Access database structure (FINBASE).
