QTCView is used with an incorporated depthfinder to create a sonar map of the bottom to the west of the Charles Island, in Long Island Sound in Connecticut waters. Two maps are created, one at 50 kHz and one at 200 kHz to compare the results. Video is being used to groundtruth the bottom type classifications identified by the sonar.
To compare the two maps to see if different frequencies result in different classifications.

dataset
Accuracy
Sonar data contains water depth as a variable. Data was collected on different days at different stages of the tide. Since there is a 6 foot tidal range in Connecticut, this causes artifacts in the data which mask the true topography. Data has not been corrected to some standard stage of tide.
Completeness Report
Unknown because data is still in process of being edited
Using QTC View and depth finder and video to groundtruth the sonar returns and create habitat map of bottom
